As Yekitiya Dewleta Kurdistan, we celebrate Amedspor's 3-0 victory against Erzurumspor. The racist and nationalist discourses, insults, provocations and sometimes violent attitudes produced in the stands against Amedspor for years have stood before us as the most obvious example of how football has been sacrificed to fascist nationalist militarist reactionism. The language used by Erzurumspor on its official social media account when coming to Amed, ignoring the patriotic political character of the city and Kurdish identity and fueling tension, was one of the last examples of this understanding. However, the answer given on the field is clear: Stadiums are not battlefields, Çanakkale, Sakarya Dumlupınar are not battlefields. Success does not belong to those who go to war, but to those who play football with quality. Amedspor continues with its football despite all the pressures and provocations.
Sports is not a tool to humiliate a people, to create hostility through identities, or to turn stadiums into areas of political showdown. The Turkish Football Federation, club managements and Turkish football teams must put an end to this vile immorality. As Yekitiya Dewleta Kurdistan, we call on the football public to take real responsibility against discriminatory practices, biased attitudes and racist chauvinist tribune culture towards Amedspor. Amedspor continues its rise not with hate speeches, but with its struggle on the field. Once again, we congratulate Amedspor players, technical staff and fans for this meaningful 3-0 victory and wish them continued success.
On Behalf of Yekitiya Dewleta Kurdistan
